Sony Playstation 3 (ps3)
With the release of the Playstation 3 in 2006 and 2007 came the most advanced computer system that the gaming market had ever seen. It is thanks to this gaming system that we have been introduced to the platform taking us to the next generation of computer entertainment. This is thanks to a number of components that make up the amazing technology within this console such as a combination of Cell and RSX processors. This technology combined with a vast back catalogue of Playstation and Playstation 2 game and software titles that are compatible and playable with the original Playstation 3 models make this console one of the most impressive gaming systems we have seen in a long time.
With the initial launch of Sony’s most impressive game console came some discouraging reviews, which held the same thoughts that a lot of us had at the time. It was criticized for various reasons such as its high price and the general lack of quality games for the launch. The reason for the last criticism was down to the fact the technology present within the console was that advanced that it didn’t match the technology present within the games, meaning you didn’t get to play the games to the full potential of the console. However since its release the PS3 has undergone several revisions of its price and also several more titles for it have been released and generally well received.
The console is slightly overshadowed by the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii in terms of sales but there is no mistaking that the console is certainly not overshadowed when it comes to the technology contained within it. Apart from having a built in Blu-ray player, which displays games in the highest picture and sound quality and allows you to play Blu-ray DVD’s the PS3 has numerous impressive features that make it highly versatile and take game playing to a place it has never been before. It has genuine vigorous multimedia capabilities, an example of this is the connectivity that it holds with the Playstation Portable, known in short as the PSP. Also the console has Giga-bit Ethernet installed in it and comes with a pre-installed hard disk drive (HDD). It is thanks to these aspects that players can download a variety of content as well as gain access to online games and services over a network.
Gaming has become so much more than simply being about playing the latest titles. There are so many more options open to you, allowing you to make the most out of your console and Playstation 3 is a prime example of this, take for example it’s version of the XrossMediaBar, which gives you the option of choosing from nine categories. These categories are split into Users, Settings, Photo, Music, Video, Game, Network, PlayStation Network, and Friends. This gives you the ability to explore photos, manage user profiles, play movies and music; it also allows you to be able to attach a storage device such as USB, Flash card or optical disc. You can use these devices to copy audio tracks or to play files from them.
Thanks to the basic input and output ports that are present within the PS3 it is able to provide a range of displays taken from anything between NTSC/PAL standard TVs through to full HD (1080i/1080p) displays. This combined with all of the above features plus much more make this gaming system one of the most advanced computer entertainment consoles you can currently get your hands on.
The Playstation 3 is also claimed to be the console to last years. Basically it has the technology to still be one of the most advanced computer consoles on the market in years to come. This is defiantly not the last we are going to be hearing from the Sony Playstation 3 so now we simple wait for the next big installment from them.
